Program Type:
Arts & CraftsProgram Description
For adults and teens ages 15 and up. Registration required.
Join Oregon Straw Hat Players and learn what it takes to costume one of our productions. By the end of the workshop you will know how to mend clothes, find specific costume pieces, and organize outfits with show and character needs in mind. These are the skills needed to join the team and be part of making a whole production happen.
All levels of sewing experience are welcome! If you know how to sew, you can focus on other costuming skills, and if you can’t sew, we will end by teaching you some of the basics.
If you have anything in your closet you’d like to fix, bring it in! We recommend clothing that needs buttons reattached or replaced, fixing holes in a seam, or adjusting the length of a hem. You may bring your sewing machine too; we will have some for your use otherwise. A sewing kit is also useful if you have it. Material is provided, but you may enjoy fixing your own clothes or using your own tools more than some of our items.
