It’s Not What You’re Expecting - Author Visit

We Three, by local author Kerry Ames, is an imaginative retelling of a story most audiences already find familiar, visit of the Magi. This story has been recited, analyzed, acted, filmed, put to music, or otherwise examined and embellished for over two millennia. All of these treatments had a core element, an implicit understanding that the visitors from the East knew the identity of the child they were searching for. According to the story, foreigners were following a star that no one else deemed interesting or important, to offer gifts to, well, whom? How did the visitors have prior knowledge of what Jesus would become? We Three imagines the Magi's journey with no such prior knowledge. The star did beckon. Foreigners were intrigued, but they didn't know who or what they would find. They speculate and standing between them and their goal are soldiers of Imperial Rome, an unbalanced and fearsome King Herod, and an unsettled Jerusalem. Through many tribulations, they arrive at Bethlehem. This is where the star’s beckoning light concludes. Here? This? A shack within a village of peasants? The star brought them to this?

Go with the travelers on their quest. Be there as they meet tragedy in the desert, dine with a suspicious King Herod, encounter a poor family in a humble village, and yet, do not leave disappointed. It's not what you're expecting.
